Customers Overview
Customers can be created in Maple in three ways:
When created, customers have the following options to include:
ID - generated automatically, the ID uniquely links a customer in Maple to your system. It’s typically set to your internal customer ID and used for syncing data, sending events, and managing billing. You can also store custom metadata to map additional fields or information from your application.
Name - Main point of contact's customer name
Email* - Main point of contact's email
Billing Emails - emails to be cc'd to voices who have the option to pay
Title - Main point of contact's job title
Organization Name - Company name
Phone Number - Company phone number
Address - Company address (Needed if calculating taxes)
Tags - Optional tags affiliated with the customer (Example: Demographics (enterprise/SMB/startup)
Owner - The Maple user that owns the relationship with this customer
External Identifier - populated automatically as the customer email, used by Maple to link to other sources like your CRM or Payment Provider.
Invoice Prefix - Customer-specific invoice prefix (If customer-level invoice number sequence is enabled via Settings > Invoices > General)
Next Invoice Number - Customer-specific invoice number (If customer-level invoice number sequence is enabled via Settings > Invoices > General)
Assigned Account Owners
Customers can be assigned to specific owners, such as the Sales Rep. or Account Executive who owns that customer relationship.
Once an account owner is set, you can configure invoice payment reminders and payment failure notifications to be sent to the owner as well.

Customer Tags
Customer tags are used to trigger automated actions and segment your metrics for deeper insights. Tags can help segment with demographics, engagement, acquisition for example.
