How To: Prepare Event Template for Import

Edited

Learn how to enter your usage-based billing events into Maple's template.

1. Click Settings > Imports

2. Click +Import > Event

3. Click Download Template

4. Fill in Default Fields

The import template will be titled example.csv.

You will see four columns: Transaction ID, Customer ID, Item ID, and Event Timestamp. These are all required fields for import.

  • Transaction ID: Can be any value, as long as it is a unique identifier for each recorded event.

  • Customer ID: This is the unique ID associated with the customer you are importing events for. This can be located in the customer's profile in Maple.

  • Item ID: This is the unique ID associated with the item that you are importing events for. This can be located in Billables > Items.

  • Event Timestamp: This refers to when the event should be recorded. Please note that this field must be entered in RFC 3339 format, and cannot be future-dated.

5. Create Usage Property Columns

You would have been prompted to enter a property in the creation of a metric for your billable item. In this example, "count" is our property.

Create a new column on the right hand side for each of the properties you are entering usage events for.

Enter the usage quantity in this column for each customer/item.

6. Save File

Save file in CSV or XLSX format, and refer to How To: Import Events by File to upload your import file.
