Edited

Sometimes you may need to send a contract without knowing if the recipient will review it themselves or forward it to someone else. The instructions below guide you through the process, ensuring that the Customer Information is accurately completed by the person who ultimately signs the contract.

1. Click Settings > Contracts > Custom Variables

2. Click "+ Create Variable"

3. Select "Customer" for the Provided by Dropdown

Allowing them to provide their name and other customer information manually when signing the contract.

4. Include a Relevant Name for your Variable

5. Click "Add Custom Variable"

6. Click "Templates"

7. Edit the Template

Create a new one or copy content from another to insert your new custom customer variable.

8. Insert Your Custom Variable

This is designated to that customer upon signing. In this case, we are just removing SignatoryName, as this will differentiate depending on who signs the contract, and the customer signing the contract will fill it in manually.

9. Click the part of the Document you will Insert the Variable

10. Click "Custom Variables"

11. Select Your Custom Variable

In our case, it is: "PotentialSignatoryName1 (Signatory1)"

12. Click "Update"

Your template is now updated with the Custom Customer input for signature.

When creating a contract, the "PotentialSignatoryName1" field will be present to put in a default value, which can be adjusted by the recipient.
